Kiribati Company Registration Number
Kiribati company numbers can’t be checked automatically yet — there is no published format or online register. See below for what each Kiribati number is.
What is a Kiribati company registration number?
It is the number on a company’s certificate of incorporation, issued by the Registrar of Companies in the Business and Companies Regulatory Division. It is not the tax number: the Kiribati Tax Division issues a separate TIN, which is the number VAT-registered businesses are expected to show on tax invoices. Neither number has a published format.
How to confirm a Kiribati company
- 1 Ask the company for its certificate of incorporation, which shows its incorporation number.
- 2 For tax purposes, ask for its TIN from the Kiribati Tax Division — it should appear on its tax invoices.
- 3 The company register kept by the Registrar of Companies can be inspected at the Business and Companies Regulatory Division for a fee of 50 cents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I search the Kiribati company register online?
No. The Business and Companies Regulatory Division of the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives keeps the register and charges 50 cents per inspection; its online company-registration page is still under development.
Is the company registration number the same as the TIN?
No. The Kiribati Tax Division issues the TIN, and its TIN and VAT application form asks separately for the TIN and for a company’s incorporation certificate number.
Who issues the TIN?
The Kiribati Tax Division. Businesses apply with their business certificate from the Ministry of Commerce and their operating certificate from the Island Council.
Which number must appear on a Kiribati tax invoice?
The TIN. The Tax Division expects VAT-registered businesses to use tax invoices that clearly show their TIN and VAT-inclusive prices.
What is the format of a Kiribati company number?
No official format is published for either the company number or the TIN, so neither can be format-checked.
When must a business register for VAT?
The Tax Division sets the VAT registration threshold at $100,000 of sales; VAT is charged at 12.5%. The same form registers a business for both the TIN and VAT.
